George Seaton (April 17, 1911 – July 28, 1979) was an American screenwriter, playwright, film director and producer, and theatre director.

Involvement With The Lone Ranger Edit

When "The Lone Ranger" became a regular series on WXYZ, Seaton (under the name Stenius) was cast as The Lone Ranger himself. However, Seaton's time as the Ranger was short, only playing him from January 31, 1933 to May 9, 1933.

"Hi-Yo, Silver!" Edit

George Seaton is also credited as the creator of the Ranger's iconic phrase "Hi-Yo, Silver!". Seaton later stated that the early scripts said that he needed to whistle for "Silver", and he couldn't get the right whistle down, he created a "call" for The Lone Ranger.
