Synopsis[]
The Lone Ranger and Tonto meet Hacksaw Hastings (referred to as Hacksaw Hawkins in this episode) and Bolivar Bates, two down-on-their-luck former confederate soldiers. The Ranger helps the two get jobs as tax collectors, and then helps to ensure the people pay their taxes. Bolivar and Hacksaw, having only confederate money, decide to turn in their cash and keep the silver-money the townspeople paid them. The Lone Ranger then develops a plan to trick the pair and keep them on the straight-and-narrow.
